A NEW GUARDIAN OF THE SACRED PLACE, KINENGTI-DJOTTIN PALACE CROWNS ITS FAI WU NSEM

A man who has spent decades returning his people to the healing power of nature was himself elevated into the ancient order of the NSEM, the sacred place of his ancestors.

Dr. Isidore Ghane was formally coronated as FAI WU NSEM of the Kinengti Djottin Palace on Saturday, May 30, 2026, and presented with full ceremony to the public the following day, Sunday, May 31, at Upstation Bamenda. The celebration drew an impressive gathering several Fons, Notables, municipal authorities, elites of Noni and beyond, well-wishers, and the family and friends of the newly installed Bofaah Wu Nsem all converging to witness a moment that had been months in the making.

What Is  FAI WU NSEM? Understanding a Sacred Office

For those unfamiliar with the governance architecture of the fondom, the FAI WU NSEM occupies a position of deep spiritual and administrative significance. If the Fon is the president of the fondom or the supreme traditional authority , then the FAI WU NSEM is akin to a minister, entrusted with a specific and sacred domain of governance.

The Nsem itself is a sacred enclosure within the palace grounds a place where libations are poured, prayers are offered, healing rites are performed, and peace is fortified through ancestral intercession. It has been likened to a traditional medicine college, a place where the covenant between the living community and its ancestors is renewed and protected.

FAI WU NSEM Dr.Isidore described the office with striking clarity: "FAI WU NSEM is the head of the traditional sacred place in the palace , a Sacred place where all the libations are being done with all the forgiveness. We are there to make sure that we serve the public."

A Life Aligned With Nature , Why Dr. Isidore Ghane?

The selection of Dr. Isidore Ghane was not merely administrative. It was a recognition of a life already lived in alignment with the values the Nsem demands. A renowned traditional practitioner based in Bamenda, Dr. Isidore Ghane is the founder and CEO of Dr. Isidore's Modern Holistic Herbal Clinic, an institution that has earned him multiple awards for its commitment to sustainable, innovative healthcare rooted in natural and herbal medicine.

His journey from holistic healer serving the people of Bamenda and beyond to the palace as FAI WU NSEM reflects a seamless continuity rather than a departure. As he himself put it, the palace Notables recognized that what he does is "so much connected to nature," and in Noni cosmology, nature and the ancestors are one and the same.

"Nature is our ancestors, and our ancestors are nature. So I am glad and I am very happy." FAI WU NSEM Dr. Isidore Ghane

Asked how this title would complement his modern practice, Dr. Ghane reached for a vivid metaphor: "This is like a red feather. It is like when your father sees a child doing something and decides to upgrade the child again notwithstanding, I am very, very happy."

A Message to the Northwest and the World

True to form, Dr. Ghane used his moment in the public eye not for personal celebration but for advocacy a call to return to ancestral roots in health and diet that has defined his entire professional life.

"As a holistic doctor, as a naturopathic doctor I will always encourage the population to go back to their roots. Go back and begin to consume their ancestral food. Do not let anyone tell you your ancestral food is evil. It is where you are coming from. From nature you came, and to nature you shall all return." FAI WU NSEM Dr. Isidore Ghane

Three to Six Months of Consultation

The road to this coronation was not a short one. According to Fai Wu Nsem Dr. Isidore himself, the Notables of the Kinengti Palace undertook between three and six months of rigorous traditional consultation before arriving at their choice because it is a fondom where every title carries spiritual weight and communal responsibility.

More Honours at the Palace: Three New Shey Titles Conferred

The festivities at Upstation Bamenda were not limited to the installation of the FAI WU NSEM. The Fon of Kinengti Djottin, addressing the gathering, also announced that three other individuals were awarded the traditional title of Shey a recognition designed to broaden the human capacity supporting the activities and governance of the palace.

A Colorful Display of Living Tradition

The public celebration on Sunday was a feast for the senses and the soul. Upstation came alive with the sights and sounds of Noni cultural performance at its finest. Dance groups including the, the powerful Mfuu, the Njang and the celebrated Boom Ye Rota made grand appearances, drawing the crowd into the rhythms and movements that have defined Djottin's cultural identity across generations.

For many in attendance especially the young the ceremony was as much an education as a celebration. To witness the Nsem office explained, unpacked, and publicly celebrated is to be reminded that behind every palace wall in the Northwest highlands lies a world of governance, healing, and spiritual knowledge that modernity has not erased.

Djottin

Situated in Noni Subdivision within Bui Division of the Northwest Region of Cameroon, the fondom of Djottin occupies the mist-laden highlands near the majestic Mount Oku, west of Kumbo. Though Sunday's celebration unfolded in the heart of Bamenda city at Upstation, its spirit belonged entirely to those highlands to the ancestors, the sacred groves, and the covenant that the new FAI WU NSEM is now sworn to protect.
