AziCCUL: Leading the Way in Microfinance and Community Development Three Awards on World Soil Day

On December 5th 2025  at Upstation Bamenda Azire Co-operative Credit Union Limited (AziCCUL) celebrated a remarkable achievement as it received three distinguished awards from the Cameroon Climate Journalist Network (CCJN) during the World Soil Day festivities at Upstation Bamenda.

Awards Highlight

Biggest Microfinance Institution of the Year AziCCUL was recognized for its exceptional customer service and significant impact within the CEMAC sub-region.

  
-Best Microfinance General Manager of the Year: Acknowledged for his leadership, the award went to Awah Walters, who manages the largest and most reliable credit union in Cameroon.

  
-Women in Leadership Governance and Microfinance Management Award: Mme. Ngang Mirabel Neh, President of AziCCUL, received this honor for her contributions to leadership in microfinance.

 

AziCCUL's Legacy

Founded in 1968, AziCCUL is one of the oldest Category 1 microfinance institutions in Cameroon, dedicated to alleviating poverty and enhancing the lives of its co-operators and their communities. The credit union has expanded its reach with many branches across various regions in Cameroon.

Remarks from Leadership

General Manager Awah Walters, the recipient of the Best Microfinance General Manager award, expressed gratitude to CCJN for recognizing the efforts of nation builders. "It's our role to empower community members to become better citizens of Cameroon. This award reflects our commitment to ethical leadership, member engagement, and community service," he stated.

In a bid to promote inclusivity, AziCCUL recently introduced Sharia-compliant services to cater to the Muslim community, ensuring everyone feels welcome and served.

 CCJN Recognition

Tamukong Roland Angong, National Coordinator of CCJN, emphasized the collective impact of AziCCUL's contributions to national development. "Your selfless dedication to the growth and development of this nation is immense. Today, we celebrate your excellence and commitment as champions and spiritual warriors," he said, extending heartfelt congratulations to the awardees.
