Minister Mbah Acha Returns Home as Nyenjie Celebrates Inauguration of Modern Market

The Head of the CPDM Central Committee’s Permanent Delegation for Momo Division, Minister Mbah Acha Rose Ngwari Fomundam, has urged the people of Batibo Subdivision to remain loyal to the CPDM party in order to benefit from further development projects in the area.

Minister Mbah Acha Rose made this appeal during her visit on August 30, 2025, to Batibo Subdivision in the Momo Division of the Northwest Region, where she inaugurated the Mbon Market in Nyenjei village, constructed by the state.

"I am delighted that we can provide a market like this, which I advocated for with the Minister of Trade,” she stated. “This is something that another party, present here for over 20 years, could not achieve. The CPDM, the party of development, has made this happen in just one year. While the ongoing crisis has slowed down other projects, we have many more initiatives in the pipeline for this village.”

She emphasized, “It took another party over 20 years to secure land and build a market. Under President Paul Biya's government, I was able to construct this market in just one year, and that promise has come to fruition.”

Mr. Ghogumu Abel Foncha, Regional Delegate for Trade in the Northwest, spoke on behalf of the Minister of Trade, H.E. Luc Mbarga Atangana. He outlined the market's purpose: to create a structured environment for buyers and sellers, facilitate resource distribution, and promote healthy competition among local vendors. The market features:

  • A Large Open Shed: Measuring 20 meters long and 15 meters wide, it provides a spacious area for goods display and includes 35 lockable stalls for vendors.
  • Closed Shops: Five secure units allow for safe storage and display of products.
  • Modern Toilets: Facilities designed to meet contemporary standards.

The address also acknowledged contributions from local leaders, including Mayor Acha Kennedy Ngu, who expressed gratitude to Minister Mbah Acha Rose for her efforts in initiating and overseeing the project.

“The market will undoubtedly serve as a center for trade for Nyenjei and neighboring villages such as Mbujei, Oshum, Anong, and Ngyenmuwa, allowing locals to sell products like yams, cocoyam, plantains, beans, maize, and our renowned local palm wine,” he stated.

The Mayor further highlighted ongoing development in Batibo and called on the community to unite for progress: “Let us close our ranks, set aside our differences, and work together for the development of our land.”

In a heartfelt moment, Minister Mbah Acha Rose not only inaugurated the market but also brought gifts for outstanding pupils from her former primary school, G.S Nyenjie, to promote education and encourage students to return to school.

“Thankfully, I was informed that there is peace here, and I want to thank the Fon and the community for their support,” she said.

The National President of the Nyenjei Development Association, Werebesi Som Richard, humorously remarked, “Do the people of Nyenjei resemble Oliver Twist asking for more? The answer is obviously ‘YES.’ We will always ask for more.”

The  Fons expressed their deep appreciation for the minister’s efforts. HRM Moyah Mbahwi Joseph of Nyenjei highlighted her dedication, stating, “You can’t bite the hand that feeds you.” We will continue to support her as our village stands behind her,” he affirmed.

The Fons performed traditional blessings, reinforcing their support for her continued success.

With a sense of nostalgia, Minister Mbah Acha Rose bought items from the market and encouraged her entourage with the community to shop at the newly inaugurated Mbon Market, marking a significant milestone for Nyenjei and Batibo Subdivision.
